Meet Ella & Eyal Vilner Big Band Swing Dance Party
Swing over to Lincoln Center for an evening of high-energy swing dance with the Eyal Vilner Big Band, one of New York's leading voices on the Lindy Hop scene. Composer and bandleader Eyal Vilner's combo has been electrifying audiences for more than 16 years at venues and festivals around the world. For this year’s set at Summer for the City, Vilner will play hot tracks from his big band's newest album, Big Apple Stomp, featuring original compositions and new arrangements of golden standards. Don't know your tuck turn from your basket whip? Arrive early for on-site instruction from choreographer Caleb Teicher of the groundbreaking SW!NG OUT live show, catch a performance of Caleb Teicher & Nathan Bugh's fan-favorite choreography, Meet Ella, then join Teicher and their team of star performers on The Dance Floor for an evening of social dance.

This multi-night performance and workshop program, presented in collaboration between uptown neighbors 92NY’s Harkness Dance Center and Works & Process at the Guggenheim illuminates the connections and individuality of rhythm-based dance forms including tap, hip hop and street dance, Kathak Indian dance, flamenco, Appalachian flatfooting, Irish step dance, live music and more — a one-of-a-kind New York City immersion that’s not to be missed!

Swing Into Spring
Renowned dancer, scholar and Tradition-Bearer of Black American Social Dance, LaTasha Barnes, will visit Wisconsin for a statewide residency from April 3 – 12, 2025. Barnes and her collaborator, Le’Andre Douglas, will offer free workshops and guided explorations in Madison, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Viroqua, Wausau, and Eau Claire, WI. Participants will explore the continuum of Black music and dance, connecting Authentic Jazz and Lindy Hop of the 1920s with contemporary forms such as House, Hip-Hop, Funk and more. This unique project aims to share the traditions of Jazz and to share its power to build community through the kinesthetic and collaborative joy of moving together.
